“Injectables, like lasers and energy-based devices, are tools. The art of treatment lies in understanding their distinct properties and applying anatomical knowledge to achieve the treatment goal.”

ShangLift Academy starts with the questions physicians face in practice, connecting facial assessment, material properties and technique. Through clinical reasoning, live demonstrations and individual guidance, learning translates into everyday patient care.

ASSESSMENT · STRATEGY · HANDS-ON

Five clinical questions to guide the day.

Beyond where to inject: understanding why each area and tissue plane is prioritised.

  1. How should dose allocation be planned for jowls with limited response to RF or ultrasound?

Start with facial assessment, then examine dose allocation across treatment areas and the reasoning behind each choice.

  2. For a thicker midface, how can injection technique and layering be planned without increasing the total dose?

Explore technique and tissue-plane allocation with contour refinement as the goal, rather than simply adding more product.

  3. How can skeletal support be planned with both lifting direction and facial width in mind?

Consider support alongside facial proportions, and discuss how treatment areas are prioritised when planning for a lifted appearance.

  4. In a patient with eye bags, which potential treatment areas should be assessed first?

Assess eye bags in the context of the surrounding midface, and discuss treatment priorities beyond a single hollow.

  5. How can fascial regions be considered alongside other tissue planes in a lifting strategy?

Connect regional anatomy with layered planning to understand the rationale for combining fascial regions with other tissue planes.

The workshop focuses on individual assessment, treatment planning and procedural reasoning. Treatment suitability and outcomes depend on the individual case; no uniform result is guaranteed.

Advanced Treatment Strategies: Making the Most of G’

Every face is different. Every case has its own story.

Different skeletal structures, tissue conditions and treatment expectations call for an individual assessment. What does this face need? Dr. Shang-Li Lin guided participants through the relationships between the forehead, temples and eye area, drawing on anatomy, material properties and fluid mechanics.

Dr. Shang-Li Lin demonstrates an injection technique as physicians observe and record at close range.
Connecting assessment and technique with the reasoning behind each choice.

Four questions to start with

  1. Is filling a hollow temple enough?

  2. Does treating the same tissue plane always produce the same effect?

  3. Why can temple treatment make one face appear wider, yet another look slimmer?

  4. Can contour refinement make a broad forehead appear narrower?

The region, tissue plane and injection point shape the result.

Connect material properties to treatment strategy

Starting with G’ and material properties, the workshop linked product distribution and handling to tissue anatomy and treatment goals. Within the same region, why choose this location or this plane? Each decision was discussed in the context of the individual case.

Live Demo | Understand the reasoning behind each step

From assessment and palpation to planning and demonstration, participants observed closely and asked questions that connected technique with clinical reasoning. Discussions of brow elevation, the outer eye area and contour refinement began by clarifying which proportions the treatment aimed to change.

Relate anatomical knowledge to palpation

Bony landmarks and palpation help connect an anatomical illustration with a real face. Regional choices and technical details were considered in relation to each case’s skeletal structure and tissue condition.

Hands-on | Work through the details together

Moving from observation to practice, participants received individual guidance from Dr. Lin. Each new case called for reassessment, discussion and adjustment. Hands-on learning gives physicians an opportunity to experience and clarify details that observation alone cannot fully convey.

Limited volume makes prioritisation essential

When treatment volume and budget are limited, setting priorities and communicating achievable goals are part of treatment planning. Assessment, trade-offs and clear communication keep each technical decision aligned with the individual’s goals.

Bring the reasoning back to clinical practice

The aim is for physicians to take home both practical details and a framework for reassessing and planning treatment for the next, different face.

Physician Exchange Recap

ShangLift Academy × Cynosure Lutronic Exchange

A clear rationale
behind every setting.

Taiwan × Vietnam Physician Exchange · Dr. Shang-Li Lin

The value of clinical teaching lies in understanding the “why” behind each step.

Physicians from Taiwan and Vietnam gathered at Shangli Aesthetics Derm Clinic, where ShangLift Academy founder Dr. Shang-Li Lin shared his approach to personalized treatment and the practical details of PicoSure Pro.

The exchange connected skin anatomy and device characteristics with case discussion and close-up clinical demonstrations, bringing theory, assessment and technique together.

Dr. Shang-Li Lin demonstrates with a laser handpiece while physicians observe and take notes around the treatment bed
Clinical Teaching, Up CloseDr. Lin explains the reasoning behind settings and adjustments during a clinical demonstration.

Three questions to guide clinical reasoning.

  1. Define the concern

What needs to be addressed? Distinguish concerns such as skin tone, pigmentation, pores and atrophic acne scars before defining the treatment goal.

  2. Assess each area

How do needs differ across the same face? Consider regional differences when planning treatment and understand the basis for personalization.

  3. Understand each adjustment

What informs each setting and adjustment? Connect device characteristics and treatment goals with the observation of skin responses.

From skin science to case discussion.

Connect knowledge with clinical practice.

Clinical exchange across borders.

Make clinical reasoning clear, so knowledge informs well-grounded treatment decisions.

This is ShangLift Academy’s commitment to advanced physician education: connecting principles, assessment and technique so learning translates into practice.

Thank you to every physician who took part, and to the Cynosure Lutronic and TBMS teams for their support.

Physician Hands-on Workshop · Dr. Shang-Li Lin

A clear rationale
behind every injection.

Learning how to inject also means understanding why. With the same injectable material, different facial features and treatment needs call for a fresh approach to assessment, dosing and technique.

This Juvelook workshop connected theory, live demonstration and one-to-one hands-on training, helping physicians work from the treatment goal to the reasoning behind each step.

Four areas of focused learning.

  1. Facial Anatomy & Assessment

Understand anatomical structures, identify the individual’s concerns and define treatment goals.

  2. Dosing & Expected Outcomes

Consider the patient’s individual needs when planning the dose and treatment area, linking the expected improvement to a practical treatment plan.

  3. Live Demonstration, Up Close

Follow assessment and injection technique together, with the rationale for each decision explained during treatment.

  4. One-to-One Hands-on Training

Physicians practise under individual supervision, clarify details and refine technique with immediate feedback, then consolidate their learning through case review and discussion.

Make the treatment logic clear.
Teach the details that matter.

Understand the properties of each tool, combine anatomical knowledge with facial assessment and develop an appropriate treatment strategy. This is the focus of ShangLift Academy’s ongoing commitment to physician education.

Thank you to every participating physician, the models who supported the demonstrations and hands-on sessions, and the WOH Medical team for making this workshop possible.
